The Plazoleta del Rosario is one of the most emblematic spaces in the historic center of Bogotá, a place where colonial history intertwines with the university and cultural life of the Colombian capital.

Its history recounts that during the colonial era, it was known as the 'Plaza de San Francisco,' a place where public and religious events were held. In 1653, the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario was founded, an educational center that served as a precursor to the Universidad del Rosario, a prestigious institution that has trained important figures in Colombian history. Later, in 1810, it was the site of important meetings during the early independence movements. And on August 5, 1974, after several renovations, it was inaugurated as 'Plaza Guillermo Valencia' in honor of the Colombian poet, journalist, and historian.

The architecture of the Plazoleta del Rosario combines colonial elements with modern urban interventions. Its main attraction is the façade of the University Cloister, with its distinctive arches and understated elegance.

Today, the Plazoleta del Rosario is home to several cafes with over 80 years of history. Among them is Café Pasaje, one of the oldest in the area, renowned as a meeting place for students, intellectuals, and bohemians, where the educational and social roots of Colombia are revealed.
