Ubicado Located in the heart of the Colombian capital, the San Carlos Palace is an architectural treasure that blends colonial elegance with its rich history. Built in the 16th century, it has witnessed important historical events and housed prominent figures in Colombian politics and culture. The palace once served as the official residence of the President of Colombia.

On July 10, 1908, it became the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Around 1937, adjacent properties were acquired with the intention of constructing a three-story building to house the Ministry. The project was entrusted to the Italian architect Pietro Cantini, who had just completed the Teatro Colón.

The new façade ultimately formed a cohesive ensemble with the birthplace of the renowned poet Rafael Pombo, the Teatro Colón, and a colonial house, now home to the San Carlos Diplomatic Academy, built in 1970 by the architect Enrique Umaña.

During your visit, you will discover imposing halls decorated with opulent period furniture, exquisite works of art, and fascinating relics that tell the story of the country. You will also uncover the secrets of its corridors, adorned with frescoes and ornaments that reflect the grandeur of the colonial era and the splendor of the Colombian aristocracy. Guided tours are not available at the palace.
