The La Vaca District Ecological Wetland Park is an ecological treasure in southwestern Bogotá. It is a biodiversity refuge that has been maintained thanks to conservation efforts and the active participation of the community. With wet, semi-wet, and dry zones, it is a unique ecosystem that allows for the coexistence of diverse species and contributes to the city's water regulation.

Located in the Kennedy district, it covers 7.98 hectares and is divided into two sectors, north and south. This space has been fundamental to Bogotá's natural balance since the beginning of the 20th century, when it was part of the Tintal Lagoon and connected to the hydrological system of the Fucha and Tunjuelo rivers, along with the Tibanica, Techo, and El Burro wetlands. Today, its boundaries extend to the neighborhoods of Villa de la Torre, Villa Emilia, El Amparo, and the Cayetano Cañizares Metropolitan Park, where its trails invite visitors to explore nature.

The park, also known as the La Vaca District Wetland Reserve (RDH), boasts the highest environmental certification worldwide RAMSAR. This is a result of ongoing efforts to conserve biodiversity in these areas, which are designated as Protected Areas of the District and form part of Bogotá's Main Ecological Structure.

The La Vaca Wetland is home to 85 recorded bird species, including aquatic, terrestrial, lowland, and exotic birds, distributed among 46 families. The most common family is Tyrannidae, or flycatchers, which range in size from tiny to medium-sized, with color patterns ranging from muted to much brighter hues.
